Blessed.

Well, as much as we wanted to be really good about updating this blog....it just hasn't happened.  In the past month we have truly been blessed.  First, we found a church that we love and have gotten involved in.  Through church we have met some really wonderful people...which opened up a job opportunity for Lauren!  As if we didn't have enough to thank God for...we just found out we got a house on base! We were in limbo about what to do about where we are living...it is a really nice townhouse, but far from base and at the top of our budget.  Our complex had originally told us that our rent would go down once we signed a 12 month lease, but when we went in the office last week to pick up our papers to renew our lease, we found out the price did the exact opposite of decreasing.  Jim is really enjoying his job, even though it has been keeping him VERY busy.  He is working long hours, but it is giving him some wonderful experience that he will be able to apply throughout his career in the Army.  We also FINALLY got our wedding pictures today (2 months later) so below are a few sneak peaks! We are SO excited about coming home to NC this weekend for the July 4th Holiday!  It is going to be nice to be home again to visit with our family & friends and celebrate good ole' Kernersville traditions :) This was just a quick update and we promise there will be more to come after this weekend!  We love and miss you all!

Love,
Lauren & Jim

Here we go...

Hello everyone!  We have been hounded by numerous friends to start a blog...so here it goes!  We thought this would be a good way to keep up with all our family & friends.  We have settled into our house in GA, and are loving married life!  I have finally gotten everything organized and decorated, and the house has come together so nicely!  I recently planted some flowers outside, Jim got us a humming bird feeder, and we put some sidewalk lights down our walkway!  We re-finished the kitchen table (our first attempt at laying tile & using grout went quite well!), bought some night stands for our bedroom, and we ordered a coffee table...but are still waiting for it to arrive!  Jim found this really neat store called "Wood You" down here, they sell unfinished wood furniture for a really good price!  We had been searching for a coffee table for a couple months, but never found one we liked until we walked into the store down here.  We decided we would purchase the table we found and finish it ourself with the stain Jim had gotten when he re-finished the wood on the kitchen table.  Jim is very handy, for those of you that didn't already know that.  We are currently on the hunt for table legs to make two end tables to match the coffee table!  We finally hung all the pictures on the walls this past weekend, and everything looks MUCH better.  I've been in cleaning mode all day today, we have several guests coming this weekend!  One of our friends from high school is graduating basic training tomorrow morning down here at Ft. Benning and our friends Mark & Amy Jo Messick are coming to spend this holiday weekend with us since Jim & Mark have a 4-day weekend! The Messick's are stationed at Ft. Stewart, GA (only about 3.5 hrs away) and it is so nice to have friends within driving distance since we are all so far from home!  Along with decorating the house, some other happenings in the past 3 weeks:  we made a trip to Destin, FL for our "mini-moon" as we called it (we are waiting to take our actual honeymoon once Jim has more leave time), Jim celebrated his 25th Birthday, I got my official military id card, and we became official Georgia state residents!  After the weekend I will post some pictures of the house!  I think that's a wrap for now...hope everyone will enjoy our blog and please let us know how we can stay in touch with YOU! We love and miss everyone back home very much!

Love Always,
Lauren & Jim
